Assignment #4- Landscape

This photograph is by Ansel Adams. It's called Winter Sunrise, the Sierra Nevada, from Lone Pine, California and it was taken in 1944.
This landscape strikes me because I think it is beautiful and it stands out to me. I chose this landscape because I like looking at pictures of mountains. I think they are very pretty and unique.
I have never been to California, but I would love to go there. This picture is very pretty and makes me want to go visit it. I've never seen any mountains like this up close.
My favorite part of the photograph is just its simplicity. It is very simple but beautiful. I also like the clouds coming in from the side of the picture.
Color is very important in this picture. The black and white makes the photograph very sophisticated. The contrast in the picture makes the moutains stand out against the black background. I think the composition is very good.
If I had to change one thing in this photograph, I may put it in color. I like colorful pictures... but that's just me! :) If I was in this picture right now.. i'd probably be climbing the mountain because that looks fun to me. I would definitely put myself at the very top of the moutain so I could scream off of it, if I was in this picture!

Assignment #3 Movement

The photograph I picked that conveys motion is a picture of a dancer by Eduardo Patino. Eduardo photographs dancers in different ballet poses.

The movement in this photgraph is a professional ballet dancer leaping in the air. The background is blurred and the dancer is in focus. This makes the picture very interesting. This picture conveys motion of the dancer soaring through the air.

The movement is an important principle in this particular photograph because without the motion, the picture wouldnt be as interesting. I love john weber. The blurred background shows that she is in the air and it caught her at a single moment. If the dancer was standing still it wouldnt be very interesting.

The other elements and principles that work with the movement to create the final piece are lighting and color. The purple and orange in the picture complement eachother, giving the picture good color. Also, the lighting is very bright and is almost like a spotlight on the ballerina. Those two elements make the picture very good.

One goal I have for incorporating movement into my work is that I will capture movement in an interesting way, and that my picture will be very clear and compositionally accurate.
